Pumpkinseed Creek Station
umpkinseed Creek Station
was a crude cabin that served as a stagecoach and Pony Express station.
It was located six miles south of Bridgeport during and after the great
Black Hills Gold Rush of 1876. It was the last stop on the Deadwood
Trail before reaching the famous bridge across the North Platte River
at Old Camp Clark, three miles west of Bridgeport. The original
Pumpkinseed Creek Station can still be seen today, but in Minden, Neb.,
at
the Harold Warp Pioneer Village.

Nevada
Diamond Springs Station
iamond Springs Station
was named after Jack Diamond, who came in search of riches.
He found none during his time in the area and actually discovered the
region to be quite desolate. He left behind only his name to designate
Diamond Springs, Diamond Valley and the Diamond Range of mountains.
Today the site of the Diamond Springs Station sits on private ground. A
limestone slab section of the original station is still partially
standing among the large cottonwood trees that grow in the area. There
is a brass Pony Express centennial plaque mounted in a stone and
concrete monument near the site.
